RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Program Associate, who is based in Baltimore, is responsible for the following: 

  • Supporting the implementation of The Literacy Lab’s programs and ensuring that tutors are successful and have a positive experience in the program
  • Working with Literacy Lab staff and Coaching Specialist to organize and support ongoing training for tutors and coaches
  • Helping to ensure that tutors have a positive experience in the program, including ample opportunities for additional service, meaningful professional development, and leadership
  • Supporting components of the recruitment of a diverse team of high-performing, full-time tutors
  • Monitoring and managing tutor data entry for timeliness and accuracy
  • Managing tutor files, timesheets, and other program elements in accordance with AmeriCorps requirements to ensure grant compliance
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking candidates with: 

  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail and deadlines
  • The ability to work flexibly and independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a can-do attitude
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to contribute meaningfully to a team
  • A deep commitment to closing the opportunity gap
  • Experience in education and/or with high-need communities is preferred
  • Good working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office 2010 (or later) software, especially Word and Excel
  • Ability to learn or experience using computer-based systems (Salesforce, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Experience working with Baltimore City Public Schools, preferred


WORK LOCATION: This position will be based in Baltimore, MD.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: The salary range for this position is $40,000- $43,000. This position offers competitive compensation, a flexible work environment, employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, employer-paid short and long-term disability, employer-paid life insurance, a 403b retirement plan, and paid vacation. 


TRAVEL: This position may require out-of-town travel of approximately 5-10 nights per year for trainings, staff events, and conferences.
