Credentialing Specialist Responsibilities

United Urology is seeking a qualified Credentialing Specialist for our corporate office located in Owings Mills, MD. This position is responsible for processing all initial and re-credentialing applications for Chesapeake Urology Associates, Summit Ambulatory Surgery Centers, and its affiliates, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and accreditation and regulatory requirements.

  • Adheres to all United Urology Group’s policy and procedures.
  • Communicates directly with providers during the onboarding process to obtain all necessary data and documents to begin the credentialing and payer enrollment process.
  • Update the CAQH applications as needed and work within the department to keep information current.
  • Assists providers with licensure, DEA and CDS applications.
  • Enters provider and facility information into United Urology Group’s credentialing database.
  • Completes the payer enrollment process for providers, office locations and ASC’s. Follows up on enrollment progress and communicates effective dates of enrollment.
  • Assists providers with obtaining hospital and external ASC privileging applications. Manage reappointment timeless to ensure continuity of care.
  • Prepares the provider files for the Medical Director approval for privileging at Untied Urology Group’s ASCs. Manage reappointment timeless to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintains expirable documents for providers and ASCs including DEA, CDS and office and ASC CLIA licenses.
  • Investigates unresolved or complex issues, compiles necessary information, and forwards data to appropriate staff members for resolution.
  • Communicates with providers, groups, and company peers to maintain overall contractual compliance.
  • Responsible for overall accuracy of credentialing database, assuring that the information is current and that information is presented internally and externally in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintains the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information.
  • Uses and discloses only that information that is necessary to perform the function of the job
  • Maintain relationships with Anesthesia groups that provide services at the United Urology Group’s ASC to ensure timely provider privileging.
  • Perform other office duties as assigned by manager/director. 

Credentialing Specialist Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two to four years of medical credentialing experience required.
  • Credentialing and database experience preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient computer software and database skills.
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced, high volume environment.
