Carroll Independent Fuel, DBA Carroll Motor Fuels, is a 4th generation, family-owned business that has been serving communities in Baltimore and the Mid-Atlantic region for over 115 years. Today, we offer services which include commercial fuel sales, pump and tank sales, motor fuel transportation, and 60+ convenience stores. Carroll is seeking an Area Manager.

The Area Manager is directly responsible for all aspects of company-controlled and company-supplied retail facilities, with a strong focus on growing motor fuel sales and profitability while offering excellent customer service. The adherence and enforcement of contractual agreements is paramount in this role. The Area Manager is recognized as the subject matter expert on petroleum and convenience retailing while serving as a respected steward of Carroll’s family of quality brands.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure contractual compliance of ALL company-controlled assets and non-controlled locations to the extent possible in the assigned area.
  • Strive to attain volumetric growth of fuels and create opportunities that enhance customer transaction counts.
  • Optimize site profitability through fuel volume and margin growth and ancillary sales.
  • Maximize EBITDA through various programs, initiatives, and programs including expense planning and management and oversight.
  • Ensure the highest-level customer service standards at retail operational level are being achieved.
  • Acts as consultant to dealers and operators of company-controlled locations and non-controlled supply agreements to deliver on objectives identified above while maintaining a professional relationship.
  • Conduct site field inspections on intervals established by your direct supervisor to evaluate and remedy deficiencies in contract adherence, retail standards, including image guidelines and customer service.
  • Respond to dealer and/or owner operators’ inquiries in a timely and proficient manner.
  • Ensure environmental compliance with all federal and state regulations at company-controlled locations.
  • Develop and recommend investment opportunities to improve facility viability. Included: capital expenditures, remodels, reformats, trade class changes and brand strategies.
  • Negotiate and manage third party vendor relationships related to maintenance, construction, etc.
  • Promote marketing campaigns and initiatives as developed by CIF or related parties and brands.
  • Act as fiduciary and take necessary actions or precautions to protect CIF’s interest to farthest extent possible.
  • Rigorously seek and foster opportunities to grow CIF’s retail fueling network through customer and/or site acquisition or control.
  • Collaborate with internal business units and departments, as necessary.
  • Remain informed on any developments or changes in assigned area which may impact retail facilities.
  • Act a corporate liaison with communities as needed. Foster same with dealer network.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong prioritization skills.
  • Performs other duties, projects, and initiatives as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Petroleum/Convenience Store Industry experience in account management or convenience/motor fuel retailing.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with and influence a wide array of personality types from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Must possess analytical capabilities.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
