The Maryland Center for History and Culture (MCHC) seeks an enthusiastic team member to join our staff as Human Resources & Administration Manager. Reporting to the President & CEO, this position will be responsible for managing the day-to-day needs for the organization, as well as handling benefits administration and maintaining all personnel files. This person will serve as liaison and office manager for all things related to the Board, President’s office, and Human Resources for a staff of about 40 employees.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Continuously work to bring the organization up to current HR standards, and handle HR issues as they occur;
- Serve as assistant to the President & CEO;
- Act as liaison to the Governance Committee;
- Serve as Board Liaison;
- Oversees day-to-day administrative needs; serves as point person for general office procedures and interoffice communications;
- Ensures meeting spaces are prepared for the workday and upcoming meetings;
- Assists with organizing meetings, notifies attendees, and sends reminders on behalf of the President & CEO;
- Prepares agendas, correspondence, reports, and other requested documents as required by the President & CEO maintaining a high level of confidentiality;
- Assists in preparation for Board and Committee meetings;
- Produces minutes from Board meetings and maintains electronic and hard-copy archives;
- Organizes and prepares meeting spaces for conference calls, including logistical and technological arrangements for Zoom calls;
- Implements and maintains effective management systems for the organization’s paper and electronic records, including insurance, MOUs, and contracts;
- Post all new position openings to a variety of platforms, track applicants, support scheduling, and attend all interviews;
- Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding process for all employees;
- Develops and maintain a successful strategy for intern and volunteer recruitment, evaluation, and retention;
- Manage employee leave time;
- Review, reconcile, and process HSA and 403b retirement plan constitutions monthly;
- Complete employee enrollment and termination of benefits including health, dental, vision, 403b, LTD, and life insurance, and health savings accounts;
- Assist with the diversity, equity, access, and inclusion efforts of the organization by advising on matters concerning human resources and workplace culture;
- Research and advise on policy development.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 2-3 years of office management experience; nonprofit experience, a plus
- 2+ years of Human Resources experience; SHRM or PHR Certification, a plus
- Excellent organization and administrative skills
- · Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- · Familiarity and interest in the museum community, a plus
This is a full time, salaried position with benefits. The salary range is $50,000-60,000.
