Position Summary

The Programs Coordinator will coordinate multi-part capacity building, collaboration and advocacy programs for nonprofit organizations. The position’s primary responsibilities focus on coordination for the Nonprofit Accelerator and other programs related to cohorts. Cohort programs bring together groups of nonprofits that learn and grow together over time and include components such as a learning series, assessment, peer exchange and collaboration, 1:1 consulting and training for individual boards/staffs, executive coaching, and organizational development. The Programs Coordinator will lead the program development, logistics, communications, delivery, evaluation and reporting for cohort programs. The Programs Coordinator will work collaboratively with different departments in the organization (Consulting, Learning, Standards for Excellence, Membership) to support implementation of grant-funded, contract and fee supported programs and supervise contract associate consultants.


Position Description

Program Management

  • goog_1202136085Provide program coordination for various learning and capacity cohort programs and series at Maryland Nonprofits
  • Work with program or consulting leaders and team members who will serve as content leaders on the cohorts
  • Develop program implementation plans and timelines
  • Work with content leaders on refining program objectives, outcomes and cohort program materials, including cohort document management and
  • Identify and recruit specialists to fulfill key roles.
  • Manage communications with nonprofits participating in cohort programs, including developing marketing/outreach information, communicating clear plans and expectations, onboarding participants.
  • Manage internal and external faculty for program delivery, clearly outlining expectations and in the case of subcontractors, developing agreements.
  • Gather and analyze data on participation and outcomes, report on program accomplishments and areas for improvement based upon evaluation plan established by learning and consulting departments.
  • Manage logistics (advance and during program delivery) for in-person and virtual events.
  • Support the Learning Program administratively, including supporting the online member community and other program management support, as needed.

Additional Professional Staff Functions and Responsibilities

  • goog_1202136087Support staff by providing input and requested information for grant proposals and reports.
  • Technical Assistance Services - provide telephone, email, online community, and in-person technical assistance to members and other callers in areas of expertise. 
  • Communication and Outreach Activities - participate in communicating about all programs and services of the association, including cooperative buying programs, statewide and regional training programs, statewide and regional events, etc., with the nonprofits being served.
  • Member Recruitment and Retention - participate in recruitment and retention of nonprofit members.
  • Participate in organization-wide efforts, including staff meetings, convenings, and special events.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.


Required Qualifications

  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical ability and organizational skills.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to work independently, capacity to manage multiple assignments, attention to detail, computer self-sufficiency, and a passion for excellence.
  • Must be willing to travel in-state and inter-state.
  • Interest in nonprofit governance and management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in producing and editing video educational programs.
  • Experienced in nonprofit governance and management.
  • Experience with racial equity/diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Work Environment, Physical Requirements, and Other Details:

- This is primarily a remote position. There is a possibility the position can be hybrid (remote/in office) position. Some work in the field for training, events and meetings will be required in Maryland. Candidate should be within reasonable commuting distance to central Maryland.
  • - Work at a computer in a stationary position for sustained periods of time. Accommodations (e.g. standing desk, balance ball chair) can be made available.
  • - Required to work hours outside of a standard 9 AM – 5 PM schedule for special events, client projects and programs (as needed).

Compensation and Benefits

The Programs Coordinator is a full-time (40 hours), exempt position with an annual rate of pay of $50,000.
