Full Job Description

Overview:

The Patient Relations Specialist is responsible for developing, leading, monitoring, and reporting the overall organizational approach and systems related to patient and family complaints and grievances throughout the Institute. The Specialist investigates and responds to multi-disciplinary and complex patient complaints and grievances, often-requiring immediate attention and intervention.
Responsibilities:
  • Investigates multi-disciplinary and complex patient complaints and grievances, often-requiring immediate attention and intervention. Responds to complaints and grievances per policy and accrediting organizations standards of care.
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation of investigation and resolution.
  • Interacts collaboratively with all levels of hospital leadership and personnel to advance the patient and family experience and aid in the resolution and follow-up of found grievances.
  • Utilizes data management system to analyze, track, and trend complaints and grievances
  • Responds to cases that involve The Joint Commission, Maryland Board of Physicians, and the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in order to assure compliance with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and other regulatory organizations.
  • Facilitates in-service sessions to educate employees about trending patient relations issues.
  • Coordinates resolutions of patient relations risk issues.
  • Collaborates on projects as they relate to quality, patient safety, and risk.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in nursing, public health, healthcare, psychology, communications or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare required.
  • Customer relations experience preferred.
  • Bilingual applicants preferred.
